The pipe::scan has been ACS drinking water certified by the independent French institute CARSO, which is accredited by the French Ministry of Health to evaluate, test and certify materials and products which are in contact with water intended for human consumption. New Government Regulation Proposed, Is Your Equipment Ready?

Lead in Drinking Water

The existing guideline for lead, last updated in 1992, based its maximum acceptable concentration (MAC) of 0.01 mg/L (10 µg/L) on a provisional tolerable weekly intake of lead established by the World Health Organization (WHO) at a level that showed no increase in blood lead levels and thus no expected increase in health risks. This new document identifies reductions in IQ as the critical effect of lead, with a proposed MAC of 0.005 mg/L (5 µg/L) based on analytical achievability. It provides updated data and information related to exposure to lead in Canada, to analytical methods and to treatment approaches available at the municipal and residential scales. Based on these considerations, the document proposes a MAC of 0.005 mg/L for total lead in drinking water.

Ammonium, Nitrate, and Chloride ISE Sensors Now Available for the Aqua TROLL 600 Multiparameter Sonde

We are pleased to announce that the Aqua TROLL 600’s expanding platform of water quality sensors now includes Ammonium, Nitrate, and Chloride Ion-Selective Electrode (ISE) Sensors! These new sensors offer the accuracy, reliability, ease of use, and stability you expect from In-Situ, and are compatible on all existing Aqua TROLL 600 Multiparameter Sondes by simply installing a firmware and software update. (Oh, and we’re only recommending monthly calibrations…more on that later!)

Nutrient monitoring applications

Designed for use in a variety of applications, you can count on all our water quality sensors to perform in natural water, surface water, groundwater, produced water, and aquaculture.

The Aqua TROLL 600 nutrient sensors are ideal for any application where real-time data for nutrient monitoring and/or early detection of contamination is useful, including:

    • Agriculture and irrigation – monitor drainage and runoff
    • Source water, drinking water, and wastewater – influent and effluent monitoring
    • Stormwater – sediment runoff and nutrient contamination
    • Mining – mine water management and nutrient contamination monitoring
    • Groundwater – nutrient contamination and long-term testing
  • Aquaculture – pond, recirculation, farming, and wastewater monitoring

So, what’s so special about these nutrient sensors?

If the reduced maintenance costs and early detection of potential contaminants isn’t enough for you, here are few other points to consider…(this is where monthly calibration comes in!):

    1. Sensor stability: Traditional ISE sensors typically drift within hours to days, however In-Situ sensors are showing minimal drift even after more than a month of deployment. Gone are the days of daily or even weekly calibrations…we are recommending a monthly 2-point calibration for these sensors. Oh, and there’s no iso-thermal calibration required either. (I’ll pause while you do the happy dance.)
    1. Derived parameters: The Ammonium Sensor will automatically derive ammonia and total ammonia when used in conjunction with a pH/ORP sensor. Plus, if you’re currently using HydroVu for your data management and reporting, a telemetry firmware update will magically make all of these new nutrient parameters visible in HydroVu!
  1. Range and depth: Our sensor range is significantly higher than others on the market (we’re talking 50x the range in some cases). In addition, the Ammonium and Nitrate Sensors are rated to a depth of 25m, and the Chloride Sensor can be used to the current pressure range of the Aqua TROLL 600 (350 psi).

Aquatic Life is looking for Technical Sales Representatives in different regions in Canada. The individual will be responsible to market and sale services and analytical instruments for environmental, sewer and domestic water to companies and government agencies in their designate area.

The main duties of Technical Sales Specialists“ in Canada

-promote sales to existing clients
-find and approach potential clients
-assess client needs and resources and show how the products or services that the sales specialists represent can satisfy those needs
-develop reports and proposals for sales presentations, to illustrate benefits from use of goods or services
-make and close sales deals
-provide input about product design where goods or services must be tailored to suit clients’ needs
-estimate costs of installing and maintaining equipment or service
-prepare and administer sales contracts
-talk to clients after sale to solve problems and to provide ongoing support
-solve technical problems related to equipment
-maintain and update data about their territories and accounts
-train clients’ staff in the operation and maintenance of equipment
-Equipment and supplies sales specialists use their knowledge about laboratory terms, processes, and equipment to sell products and assist customers.

About WaterTech 2017

ESAA is pleased to report that the 9th Annual WaterTech Symposium, held in April 2016 was a huge success! Building on that success, we are announcing WaterTech 2017 – the premier water technology transfer event for environmental professionals. Attendance at the eighth WaterTech exceeded all expectations, with a waiting list for both delegates and exhibitors. WaterTech 2017 is highly recommended for all industry sectors that have an interest in the technical aspects of water and wastewater management.

Since 2002, ESAA has hosted the incredibly successful RemTech Symposium each October in Banff. Delegate & exhibitor numbers, as well as sponsorship support, increased steadily, causing RemTech to outgrow its original venue after three years. Owing to the ongoing space limitations at RemTech, ESAA has not been able to profile water technology to the level it deserves and delegates want.

WaterTech gives us the opportunity to focus on a relevant and growing area of interest in the environmental sector.

The two-day technical program will consist of a minimum of 40 platform presentations grouped into sessions chaired by environmental professionals.
